On July 15, 2018, boxing fans were introduced to a heavyweight looking to make a name for himself. Even more, Polish boxing fans were given a treat seeing two of their countrymen on the big screen when Arthur Spzilka took on the babyfaced contender, Adam Kownacki.
Spzilka was looking to bounce back from a defeat by Deontay Wilder, where he was KO’d by the WBC Heavyweight champ in spectacular fashion.
Adam Kownacki wanted to make a memorable mark in the minds of boxing fans everywhere who tuned in to watch his fight with the former heavyweight title contender.
In an interview with our Jordan Hardy, Kownacki said “In the fourth round, my right hand drew blood from Szpilka’s nose, and I noticed he was getting tired.” He goes on to say that he “whispered into his ear, “Are you remembering the Deontay Wilder fight?” He was shocked. His eyes went wide like, “What the [expletive] he talking about?”
After that, Adam Kownacki delivered a devastating fourth-round KO of Polish-born heavyweight contender Artur Szpilka.
