PBC’s 2018 pick for Round of the Year goes to … Round 12 of Deontay Wilder vs Tyson Fury on December 1, 2018!

It was one of the biggest and most exciting heavyweight fights in years. Deontay Wilder was defending his WBC title for the 8th time against lineal champion Tyson Fury, who recently made his comeback after a 2.5 year hiatus following his victory of long-reining former heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko, during which time he battled with mental health issues and drug addiction.

Wilder knocked Fury down in the 9th round, but he was still down on the judges scorecards going into the 12th and final round as a result of Fury’s impressive boxing ability. Wilder needed to make a big statement in the last round … and he did.

With over two minutes still left in the round, Wilder lands a straight right, followed by a left hook that sent Fury to the canvas. For a moment, it appeared Fury was out cold, but miraculously, he managed to get up AND finish the round in impressive fashion.

In the end, the fight was ruled a controversial split draw, opening the door for a potential rematch.
