June 28th, 2014. Terence “Bud” Crawford makes the first defense of his WBO Lightweight Title against “El Ciclon de Guantánamo” Yuriorkis Gamboa on this day. Both fighters came into the fight undefeated with identical pro records; 23(16)-0.

Gamboa is a 1.75-1 underdog going into the bout.

In March 2014, Crawford won the WBO Crown via UD over Ricky Burns and Gamboa is slated to be his very first title defense.

This is only the second world title fight to be held in Omaha, Nebraska. The first of such event took place back in May 1972 when the legendary Smokin’ Joe Frazier successfully defended his WBA & WBC Heavyweight Titles against Ron Stander.

Going into the fight, Gamboa had notable wins over Jose Rojas, Jonathan Victor Barros, Jorge Solis, Darleys Perez, Daniel Ponce de León & Orlando Salido. On the other hand, Crawford’s most notable victory to this point was Ricky Burns.

From the early goings, Gamboa’s hand speed surprised and troubled Crawford who arguably lost first of the 4 rounds.

However, in the 5th frame Crawford managed to figure out Gamboa and floored him for the first time in the fight.

Gamboa beats the count and gamely fought on, although it is apparent that Crawford has taken control of the fight. From this point on, Crawford has evidently taken over the fight although Gamboa to his credit remains game all the way.

In the 8th round, Crawford scores another knockdown. Gamboa was decked twice more in the 9th, and referee Genaro Rodriguez decided he has seen enough.

After this victory, Crawford continues his winnings ways; going 9(2)-0 and remains undefeated today with a perfect professional record of 33(24)-0.

He currently hold notable victories over Ricky Burns, John Molina Jr, Dierry Jean, Julius Indongo, Yuriorkis Gamboa, Ray Beltran, Viktor Postol and most recently Australia’s Jeff Horn; which he outclassed over 9 rounds.

Hope you guys enjoy the highlight of this amazing performance by Terence Crawford and remember to SUBSCRIBE, and keep the punches up!
