May 29th, 2015. Amir “King” Khan takes on “The Fighting Collegian” Chris Algieri for the WBC Silver Welterweight Championship. Both fighters are known for their great hand speed.

Before this fight, Khan had stated that he would like to take on undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr should he triumph over Algieri.

Prefight records; Khan 30(19)-3, Algieri 20(8)-1.

Khan’s last fight was a dominant victory over Devon Alexander, where he put up a memorable display of his amazing speed; outboxing Alexander to win a clear cut decision.

Algieri on the other hand lost a lopsided decision to the legendary Manny Pacquiao in his previous bout, where he was floored 6 times in the process thus this bout is seen as an opportunity for redemption.

At this point, Algieri’s most notable win was a disputed SD over “The Siberian Rocky” Ruslan Provodnikov in June, 2014. He won the WBO World Super Lightweight Title, but lost it in his 1st defense against Pacquiao.

On the other hand, Khan in his 10th year as a pro had wins over top oppositions such as Andriy Kotelnik, Julio Diaz, Gairy St. Clair, Marco Antonio Barrera, Zab Judah, Luis Collazo, Devon Alexander & Marcos Maidana.

The bout is competitive from the opening bell, but Khan won most the rounds despite a spirited effort by Algieri. The Fighting Collegian to his credit, landed some very memorable punches although it was not nearly enough to overcome Khan’s superior speed and boxing skills.

After 36 minutes, Khan won with scores of 115-113 & 117-111 (2x).

Although Khan won the fight, and had expressed his interest in pursuing a showdown against Floyd Mayweather but some believe he did not win in an impressive fashion thus a fight against the undefeated Money Man was irrelevant. On the other hand, some say it would be a great fight anyhow.

Assuming that Mayweather-Khan took place after this bout, what do you think the outcome would be? Let me know in the comments guys!

Enjoy, and always keep your punches up!
