August 1st, 2003. Future world title challenger from Mexico, Manuel Gomez aka “Shotgun” and Florida based fighter Jeffrey “The Thrill” Hill engaged in an exciting one round war in Texas. Going into the fight, Gomez and Hill had records of 23(17)-10 and 23(18)-3 respectively.

2 knockdowns in 1 round, with an explosive 1 punch KNOCKOUT!

After this bout, Jeffrey Hill had notable fights against future IBF Welterweight Champion Joshua Clottey and future WBC Interim Middleweight champion Marco Antonio Rubio for the vacant WBO Inter Continental Welterweight championship where Hill was knocked out in both bouts.

On the other hand, Manuel Gomez went 4-0-1 after the explosive bout with Hill before taking on future world title challenger Jesus Soto Karass and fought to a majority draw. In 2006, Gomez fought in his 2nd world title fight against “The Tijuana Tornado” Antonio Margarito, losing by first round knockout.

Gomez first challenged for a world title fight back in November 1997 against a prime Shane Mosley for Sugar Shane’s IBF Lightweight crown.

Both Gomez and Hill have since retired from the sport.

Enjoy this short and simple bout as I work on another project.
