June 9th, 2012. One of the best Pound for Pound fighters of today, Guillermo Rigondeaux aka “El Chacal” in his 10th professional bout makes the 1st defense of his WBA World Super Bantamweight Championship against Teon “The Technical” Kennedy. This bout is part of the undercard of the Manny Pacquiao vs Timothy Bradley I main event, where Bradley won a controversial SD, bagging the WBO Welterweight Title.

Prefight records; Rigondeaux 9(7)-0, Kennedy 17(7)-1-2.

Rigo won the WBA title via TKO6 over Rico Ramos back in January 2001, and his 1st title defense is set to be against the 12.5-1 betting underdog.

In this fight, Rigo dominated Kennedy; knocking him down 5 times through 5 rounds en route to a stoppage. Kennedy was so thoroughly overwhelmed, landing only 6 power shots the entire bout while Rigondeaux connected with nearly 50 power punches.

El Chacal (The Jackal) displayed exceptional counter punching skills, power, hand speed coupled with an impregnable defense in this very first world title defense.

He will be taking on Vasyl “Hi-Tech” Lomachenko in a highly anticipated showdown which will potentially be one of the best fights of 2017! Who do you think wins? Let me know in the comments!
