Maxim Dadashev – Mad Max (R.I.P. 1990-2019)


Highlights of the talented Maxim Dadashev who recently passed away after sustaining an injury to the brain in his fight against Subriel Matias.

Maxim Dadashev – Was a Russian boxer who competed in the light welterweight (63.5 kg) division. A participant of the 2015 European Games, Dadashev was a Russian amateur champion. Born in Leningrad, Soviet Union (now Saint Petersburg, Russia), he was of Lezgin descent. On July 19, 2019, Dadashev lost to opponent Subriel Matías at MGM National Harbor in Oxon Hill, Maryland.The fight was an International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior welterweight elimination bout for the number two WBC worldwide ratings position. Dadashev’s trainer, Buddy McGirt, stopped the bout after the 11th round, over Dadashev’s protest in the corner. On exiting the ring, Dadashev collapsed. Dadashev subsequently underwent emergency surgery to relieve pressure on his brain, and was placed in a medically induced coma at UM Prince George’s Hospital Center. However, Dadashev died from his injuries on July 23 at the hospital.
